Supporting trans people in running

Our aim is to be as inclusive as possible and we are actively working to encourage and support more trans people in running. The club has a number of initiatives to help increase the number of trans members and make sure we are a truly trans friendly organisation.

We have a new trans webpage which answers a range of questions on topics such as the changing facilities we use through to the updated UK Athletics rules on trans competitors. The page also reminds our members of issues trans people may face which often are based on incorrect assumptions that can cause offence or upset. Please take a look to ensure you are trans aware!

We want to make sure we support new and existing trans members appropriately and so in August committee members, and some of our LiRFs and run buddies will be attending trans awareness training run by the LGBT Foundation.

We are working with the LGBT Foundation and other local LGBT clubs on a Trans Active month in September to encourage trans people to get more physically active and we will be offering FREE membership to trans people who start running with us in this month. Please share this information via your social networks to help spread the word!

The LGBT Foundation are holding a Trans Manchester event on Saturday 10th September 12-5pm at their offices in town where trans people can drop in and access a range of activities and meet other people. We have been offered the chance to have a stand at the event to promote our club as part of Trans Active but unfortunately it is during our training weekend and many people are away. If you are free for a few hours (we don’t have to cover the whole period) and don’t mind standing by our banner and telling people about our club then please let us know!
