Promoting good mental health through running

It is mental health awareness week and are supporting the UK Athletics #runandtalk initiative which aims to break down the stigma of mental health issues. We have designated our Thursday run on 13th October as our #runandtalk event and are encouraging members get chatting!

The LGBT community is often more affected by mental health issues and I am sure we all would agree that running is a great way of helping to improve mental health. We want to encourage our members to look after their emotional as well as physical well being, so in the coming months we will be continuing to support this project, also working with the LGBT Foundation who offer a range of mental health services.

UK Athletics are promoting Mental Health Ambassadors and we would like to a volunteer or two to join Sarah Rickard (Club Welfare Officer) in taking up this role.
