Racing Round up!

Whilst I await to cross the boarder into Romania, I thought i best do something that’s clearly more important…. a very belated race report (sincere apologise!!)

For this one you will need to cast your memory back to the week after Leeds Endure24! Whilst most of us were having a well earned rest, Jacqui Baines had a massive challenge ahead of her in respect to taking on the Tour of Merseyside. The tour consisted of 6 different challenges, ending with the Wirral Coastal 12 miles. In total,Jacqui amazingly covered 52 miles, not to mention a pre-tour 10 miles at Leeds Endure 24. Think you will all agree that this equals one phenomenal week of running -fabulous efforts, very proud!

Sunday 7th July saw many of us participate in the We Love Manchester 10km, which was a club championship race. It was great to see so many MFR take part this year…especially as we had home advantage for this one! A massive congratulations to Rachel Kenyon, Carys Brown, Edmund Woodfield, Darren De Vally, and Rob Dixon for setting new PBs with the club! Amazing running followed by a fab social at the Hatch afterwards.

Last weekend saw Jono compete in the Roma Eurogames. Aside from having an amazing time Jono also brought back a modest haul of medals:

M40 category:
400m – 4th
800m 🥉
1500m 🥉
5000m 🥈
10K Road 🥈
4x400m Relay 🥇

Pretty incredible effort! Well done.

Last night saw the Run North West hold a new race- the Alderley Park Trail 10k! Nick Malarkey represented MFR and by the sounds of it had a lovely time! Might be a good one for those of you looking for more off-road races next year. Keep your eyes and ears open for pre-registration as the race sold out this year and I suspect will do so again next year.

Anyways, that’s it from me! Remember to keep us update on what your all up to. Next championship race is the Millbrook Monster on the 24 July! It promises to be a hilly course with free chips at the end; what’s not to love! More details can be found on the MFR event page. Happy running!
