Who are MFR?

Manchester Frontrunners (MFR for short) are part of International Frontrunners, a network of LGBT running clubs all over the world. Find out more about the international network of Frontrunners running clubs by clicking on their web site: www.frontrunners.org.

The Manchester club was formed in 2005, and has been growing ever since. We now have approximately 120 members, and whilst the majority of our members are from the LGBT Community, we are open to everyone. We welcome and cater for all ability of runners, whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned long distance runner.

Training and Races

We actively encourage and welcome new members, no matter what level you are at, be it run-a-bit-walk-a-bit, jogging, running, racing or even training for your umpteenth marathon, we genuinely have people at all abilities, so you’ll easily find someone to help you move to that next goal!

We also take part in many races throughout the year, from Saturday Park runs, cross country, the big events such as Manchester 10K, right through to marathons along the way. We also offer a track session every Tuesday to help improve your running technique.

The social side

Running forms an important part of our club, but we exist as part of the LGBT community in Manchester. We welcome new people to Manchester, new runners, or those looking for a club that will introduce them to new friends. Our social side is therefore as important as our running. We meet after every run on a Thursday for food, and for brunch on a Saturday at 11:30 in Chorlton.  We also nominate a number of races our “club races”, and organise a social to celebrate as well. Don’t worry if you haven’t run, you’re more than welcome to come and join us for food and a drink. We also put on other socials, such as bowling, picnics and walks in the country. Look on our Facebook page for all events.
